Established in 1907, and particularly famous for its “Double V” campaign during World War II, which insisted that a victory abroad must be accompanied by a victory against

racism at home, the Pittsburgh Courier was a primary means of communication between African Americans around the country from the 1920’s – 1960’s. At a time, it was the largest, most influential Black newspaper in the nation with a circulation of 250,000 and over 400 employees in 14 cities and was distributed in 48 states and internationally.

Today, the New Pittsburgh Courier continues to serve as a trusted vehicle for Black expression, publishing daily online content and distributing an award-winning print edition every Wednesday.
